I bought these for my daughter's third birthday. She loves them......She immediately had to try each of them on and pose for pictures (And she doesn't like to pose for the camera!) The trunk is small and somewhat hard to put together. And the fact that it doesn't include four "dresses" (3 skirts and 4 tops) is misleading. I still totally recommend this product. It's a lot of playtime for a great price.

Comments about Lillian Vernon Disney Dress-Up Trunk:

My daughter who was 3 at the time received this dress up set from her grandmother as a gift. She is almost 6 and still loves to play dress up - especially if it has anything to do with the beloved Disney Princesses.
However, she is very thin and tall for her age yet several of these pieces no longer fit her.
She is still able to don the skirts b/c they have an elastic waist which stretches very easily. But the tops velcro in the back and some of them will not fit around her tiny torso!
Snow White's headband never fit her head either. I finally threw it in the garbage.
As for durability; the Cinderella and Belle outfits held up well when washed using the gentle cycle and hanging to dry.
Age range in the catalogue is 4-6 years; sizes 4-6. I noticed online the age is 3+.
I would not recommend this item for the older child or a very large toddler since most of the tops are not stretchy.
Over all, it's a cute dress up set. The trunk is cardboard and was destroyed within a matter of days.
I honestly think it is over-priced... but it does provide tons of fun for those little Princess fans!

      4 tops & 3 skirts
By Mommy to a princess from Thousand Oaks, CA on 7/14/2008

Comments about Lillian Vernon Disney Dress-Up Trunk:

Be careful....I wanted to use this set as a dress-up opportunity for all the girls at my daughter's b-day party. What the description doesn't tell you is that there are only 3 skirts and 4 tops. The yellow shirt is paired with either Belle's top or Snow White's top. If you need 4 complete outfits, you'll be disappointed.

I bought this for my niece. She loves it! Mom & Dad said the cardboard trunk was a pain to put together... they may have even tossed it by now?? But my niece plays dress up almost everyday with the dresses. I know for a recent trip to Disney, they splurged and bought a real expensive princess dress. I'm not sure if they allow her to play with that one? Thank goodness for these dresses!

Comments about Lillian Vernon Disney Dress-Up Trunk:

I bought this product for my two years birthday present. She has played with her "dress ups" as she calls them for almost TWO years practically everyday. When we first received the tunk, it was a bit tricky to get together. However, with a little packaging tape, you can salvage it. The clothes themselves have held up great. That comes with great care for them too. I didnt allow my child to eat with them on, as they are not machine washable and I certainly didnt allow my daughter to go outside and play in them.

Comments about Lillian Vernon Disney Dress-Up Trunk:

Beware this product is decribed as 4 poly satin gowns and it will arrive as 4 shirts, 3 skirts (Belle & Snow White shared skirt), and 3 headbands (Cinderella/Snow White reversible headband). Fine if you are buying for one child but don't expect to have four girls playing dress up at the same time. The costumes are not the finest quality but the price should clue you in to that. I was however very dissapointed in the Cinderella costume b/c the sleeves are not even attached so you have a skirt, tunic top with two sleeve puffs, a headband and choker.......lots for a young girl to put on! If this all sounds like something you are interested in purchasing then I would encourage you to search for a better price! I returned this item b/c it was of the false advertisment!

Comments about Lillian Vernon Disney Dress-Up Trunk:

My daughter (3) loved this the moment she saw it. She becomes a "princess" everyday and knows their names by heart. The costumes fit her well even though she's smaller than most kids her age. They're easy for her to get on and off. I am disappointed with the construction of the trunk. It was very hard to put together and we finally had to use tape. However in two days it fell apart, my daughter doesn't seem to mind though. It's been about 4 weeks since she received this gift and the yellow skirt has a tear in it. The costumes themselves are not that durable, I haven't washed them yet for fear of damaging them. Over all it's a good concept but if you can find something else (even if it cost more) I'd get that instead.

This product is not worth the money. The trunk was torn the first time my 3 1/2 year old tried to open it and get to the clothes. She also could only fit in a few of the outfits. She played with it at first and now is back to the thrift store play clothes. Neat idea, but needs to be made of something different, even partical board would be better for this.

Really cute and variety of the actual dress up clothes. Yeah not the highest of quality but you get what you pay for. They wash well though wouldn't withstand to many washes just spot cleaning is better. The storage trunk is made of cardboard so what do you expect. It didn't last long even after taping it. Would be willing to pay a bit more if the storage box was more sturdy. Maybe plastic or a thin metal.

Comments about Lillian Vernon Disney Dress-Up Trunk:

This dress up chest is lots of fun! I bought this for my oldest daughters 3rd birthday, she just turned 4 and she still dresses up like a princess very often! My youngest daughter also loves this clothes. They are easy for the girls to get on and off and spark lots of creativity and laughs. We have even dressed up the dog. The box fell apart within a week and the princess pictures on the shirts are now coming off but they still love to dress up. Very affordable compared to other princess dressup outfits that are alot harder for the girls to play with and put on alone.

Comments about Lillian Vernon Disney Dress-Up Trunk:

I read the reviews before buying and the main faulty feature was the box (which I agree is smaller than expected and a bit of a pain to assemble but not complicated). I recommend taping it with clear packing tape at all the edges to help it last longer. Though the main reason I bought the collecttion for the clothes which are very cute and appropriate for my 2 year old. The one thing I would note is you really only get 3 full costumes. One of the outfits has an interchangeable skirt - the yellow skirt goes with Belle and Snow White's top. There is one pair of shoes (not 4 like the picture shows), one bead necklace, one pair of earings and three bangle bracelets and 3 rings. All in all I am happy with the product.

My daughter cannot make up her mind what she wants to wear for Halloween. Age appropiate, very good for SMALLER children ages 2 - 3. Forget the box though; a simple plastic bag would of been a better choice; it tore upon taking it out of the sealed bag it was in.

I read the other review comments before purchasing this collection and they all proved exceptionally true. I didn't personally put together and use the storage trunk. I purchased a plastic bin with a lid and decorated it - I can see where the "sturdy trunk" discribed in the text is misleading. Size wise it really is best for the 2 1/2 - 3 year old or I would say up to 40 pounds. But absolutly it has provided hours of fun and play for both my daughter and son.

Comments about Lillian Vernon Disney Dress-Up Trunk:

I bought this as a gift for my son's 3-year-old friend. The box comes unassembled, which is fine, but there are no instructions on how to assemble the box. I finally got it together (after cutting one of my fingers while trying to fit the edges together), but it didn't quite close right and was very flimsy. The quality of the clothing is pretty typical for dress up clothes. There are no instructions for how the pieces of clothing go together to make each of the princesses. I was very disappointed.

Trying to replace a set of princess dresses that lasted 2 years. These were so flimsy, they were torn the same day. Also very small- for my 50% percentile 3 year olds. Headbands too tight, only 3 skirts for 4 tops- so don't think you can have 4 little girls dressed up at once- makes for an unhappy toddler.

My only complaint is the box. It is flimsy and hardly lasted at all. I know that when it is finally time to throw it away my daughter will be very upset! My 3-year old loves princesses and I thought this would be a great addition to her addiction. I knew the cardboard trunk wouldn't last, but that was ok (she sat on it the 1st day), but the quality of the dresses themselves was disappointing. The Sleeping Beauty dress top has completely shredded apart along the neck line and the Cinderella top is fraying like crazy. Two of the Velcro fasteners have also fallen off. It's just poor quality. At least I'm not out a lot of money, but this wasn't worth it in my opinion.

Fantastic buy for our daughter who is 2 and loves to dress up. This buy may only be for those children who like to dress up and not use this as a "true costume" as the material is very lightweight. The box is not that sturdy, but the costumes alone are worth the price.

Comments about Lillian Vernon Disney Dress-Up Trunk:

Like other customers, I purchased this one knowing that the trunk would be a potential waste. I assembled it (not that tough) and immediately saw the weak spots - where the trunk open and closes. This part on both sides already began to tear just as I was assembling it. I reinforced all hinges and sides with clear packing tape - not too pretty but hopefully will prolong the life of the chest. The dress-up costumes themselves are very cute and delight my four-year old. The fit is pretty decent for a four-year old, although my little one is rather petite. She needs assistance in attaching the velcro closures on the tops in the rear, so don't expect your little girl to be self-sufficient during her play time. The costumes are decent quality for the price. They are for me a good idea to see if I want to invest [$] per dress at [...]. If she loses interest in these outfits....well I won't buy any more. There are three skirts and four tops - one skirt does double duty, and I think the photo in the catalog is a little misleading in that way.The costume jewelry is total junk. Not even cute. I like this set. A good value for a versatile assortment.

"Trunk includes 4...gowns" WRONG! There are 3 1/2 sets, one skirt has to be used for two outfits. I've looked at toy stores for dress-up clothes, and have found them to be about $20 per dress. This set is the same quality as what I've found there, but at a much better value. The dresses fit my 2 1/2 year old daughter perfectly. While the age recommendation is 3 and up, I can't imagine them fitting any child over 4 years. Over all though, this is a great set.

My daughters, 3 & a half and 18 months, both love this item from the minute it arrived. Every day we wear the clothes and really don't want to take them off, so that part of this items is fantastic. However, the storage box lasted a week and had to be thrown away as it was falling apart. This may be due to the fact that it is hard to put the lid part together in a fashion that it works. All in all though I would by this again for a gift but tell the parents that a different storage sollution will be needed in the near future.

My granddaughters have a great time with this purchase. My only complaint is that the ad says there are 4 poly satin gowns but actually there are only 3 and 1/2. Two of the gowns must share the same skirt...so if you have four little girls playing with this everyone does not have a gown to wear. Other than that I love the idea of the dress up trunk and I also bought the Disney Princess Shoes to go along with the gowns.

Now my girls (ages 3 and 1) know to put them away when they're done. The only con I can really think of is that the costumes only come with one pair of shoes, so I would suggest buying the Disney princess shoes [...] to augment the collection. Comments about Lillian Vernon Disney Dress-Up Trunk:

The clothes and accessories are awesome and my niece has enjoyed hours of dress-up fun. The trunk did not last more than a week of in and out dress up play, therefore earning a rating of flimsy for the cardboard trunk. It is still worth purchasing simply for the dress up clothes and accessories!

Comments about Lillian Vernon Disney Dress-Up Trunk:

I bought 2 Princess dress-up trunks last year, one for a friend's daughter and one for my niece, both 2 years old. They loved it! The dress up clothes were perfect for these little princess, just starting to explore dress-up and pretend play. The clothing comes as skirts and matching tops, some interchangeable, which can promote imaginative mix-and-match outfits, as well as independence when putting on the clothes. There are small parts (jewelry) that could be a problem for little ones that still put toys in their mouths. The trunk is great for storing the clothes, but not easy for everyone to assemble. I used packing tape to try to keep them together for the moms, but noticed that both cardboard trunks have lost their shape. For the value (one princess dress in the store would go for the price of this entire trunk) it's great.

I bought this for Christmas for my two girls who were 2 & 4 at the time. I agree that it is a great value and the girls love having the disney princess dresses. I was however extremely disappointed in the box. It fell apart immediately. Luckily their grandmother also bought them a dress up trunk with a much sturdier box. We put all the dress up things in one box. I think redesign of the trunk is a necessity.

Some of the outfits are getting a little tight, but it doesn't bother them one bit. The only negative thing I have to say is that the box is not sturdy at all. It lasted about five minutes and we decided to put all the clothes in a drawer in their toy room. All in all, very cute and great price! What little girl doesn't love to look like a princess?

Besides, instead of paying $20 a pop to buy individual costumes, this was a good deal. Also, the trunk (I reinforced it with tape) serves as a good way to teach how/where to keep her play clothes. Overall, a good buy. :)

The box was easy to assemble, similar to inexpensive sweater storage boxes, the clothing is brightly colored in Disney colors and designs familiar to little princesses and children who can dress themselves in t-shirts and elastic waists can play for hours without need for alot of adult help. I think it was a bargain for the price, disappointed adults may not realize how little realism it takes to spark the imagination of preschoolers!

The trunk is cardboard shipped to you flat, so you must assemble it. I was a bit disappointed with the trunk, so reinforced the entire inside with packing tape prior to giving it to my girls. It helped, but the trunk still only survived a few days. (Unfortunately they thought it would hold their weight if they stood on it - so on the upside, it looked 'real' to them.) Having 3 young daughters, we've been through our share of dress up clothes, and I have to say, compared to others, I thought the quality was pretty good. The thing that disappointed me was that the gowns are 2 piece, mix and match style. My 4 year old knew what went together, so fought with my 2 year old for specific pieces for an outfit. My 1 and 2 year olds did't care and have worn varying pieces from the sets non-stop for 7 months now. So far, all of the clothing has held up to A LOT of wear.

Comments about Lillian Vernon Disney Dress-Up Trunk:

I bought this as a Christmas gift for my nieces. The box was flimsy and the clothes were very cheaply put together. My biggest concern was that they were so small. They definitely wouldn't fit a child over 3 years. I sent it back.

This is a delight for any little child who loves the Disney princesses. The trunk comes complete with outfits, accessories and shoes! Little girls will love this and so will the adults after getting past putting the trunk together. [...]Pre-assemble the trunk, please!

Comments about Lillian Vernon Disney Dress-Up Trunk:

My 4 y/o daughter got this for Christmas last year and the costumes fit her at that time. 6 months later she is still loving them but instead of looking like a princess she looks a little inappropriately dressed. I only let her use these when we don't have company. We've never washed them to shrink them, but she is pretty tall and thin. The box was flimsy and started to fall apart so we moved them to a nicer trunk and still use this "trunk" for storing her extra Barbie things. Despite my complaints, she LOVES this set!!

I have not given it to my granddaughter yet. I do sew so I am not very impressed with the quality of the garments. The box was so flimsy and hard to to assemble we threw it out.

I purchased this item as a birthday gift for my niece. I had it shipped so did not see the item but my mom who was at her birthday party said the gift was great. Natalie immediately began trying on the clothes and the items were good quality and were interchangeable. The number of items were good and she is still playing with it 2 weeks later.

Comments about Lillian Vernon Disney Dress-Up Trunk:

The clothes are very cute and seem to stand up fairly well; however, the box tore and fell apart on the first day. It's also pretty small. Still a fair price for the costumes but plan on getting another dress-up box to put them in.
